How does it know the size of my loft?
The government's register of energy certificates does not record bedrooms, but it does record the rooms and floor area of houses and bungalows across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, and 191,675 of them give both. From those we work out a typical loft for each size of home. A house has its loft over the top floor, so it is about half the floor area. A bungalow has its loft over the whole house.
Yours may be bigger or smaller, especially if the house has been extended, so change the size if you know it. Want to know how much insulation is up there now? The loft checker shows what your certificate records.
